#4 Mission Missouri April 2019

APRIL 1
I just had to share. This morning Dad came in and wrote on a paper and handed it to me. He has had a bad cold. The paper said "I've lost my voice Can you do Miller's today?" I knew he was asking if I could teach the discussion tonight. We have a group of about seven people expected at Miller's. Many are not members, I paused, looked at the paper and said "I guess so." then I remembered that "with God nothing is impossible" Next he pointed at me and laughed then said "April Fools!!!" πŸ˜œπŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…πŸ˜
I got to help Willa. We served at Franklin Elementary then went to Senior Citizens Center serve lunch. We went to Walmart to get folding chairs and groceries. We went to Sister Mary Miller's around 5 to help set up a technology things for FHE. We had a barbecue and there were 3 people who are not members that came Chris, Ed and Vicky. Dan gave family home evening on the Plan of Salvation. We gave a survey for more possible fhe. It was a nice evening.
 2
Read at Franklin School Santa at Senior Citizen Center. We then went to Sister Bradley text message. Sister Neely's was in the afternoon. We also got to help her move some furniture. Visiting Sister Coby for a few hours. I went to bed early with a head cold.
 3
Today we read at Franklin and visited with brother McNew and helped him get to the church for the family history helping We then went to Lowe's to get what we will need for it to put up a mailbox at sister Holmes house, then Dan visited with Bro. MCNEW WHILE I rested with my cold. I then worked on the phone with Renie about the support group Then we visited brother Bourelle. I caught up my recipes and gave them each a number to organize them in my cell phone

Since the beginning of our mission nearly 90 days ago!!! This morning we were at Franklin helping the kids with reading. Next we went to pick up the equipment needed for Saturdays post hole digging and weed whacking. After a rest we went to lunch and at night we got to go to see Casting Crowns in concert!! We went to dinner at Port cave first. It is in downtown and we got to walk around downtown a little bit Another thing we did is getting much closer to having are support group start Fb Dear Father, I am thankful that the support group we are working on is almost ready to schedule. I pray that it will bless others here in Cape. I know it will bless my life. I am also thankful that the weather is getting better and that I heard from my dear friend who has to have back surgery. I pray that I can be a blessing to her as she recovers. I am thankful for bird houses and I hope that birds will discover and soon! I am thankful to feel thankful.

Eeeeeeeeeee
/// A friend of mine talked about a trip they took in the winter in their Volkswagen Bug. They said the heater went out and they ended up having to rub little circles in their windshield in order to see enough to drive down the road. They spoke of how cold they were and how difficult it was in their Vision with very limited. Since Dan and I have been through a similar experience with our Volkswagen bug it reminded me what they said. That has been talked about how that is like life. There are times that life seems very cold and unforgiving and we can really only see a little ways ahead of us. During that time we must seek heaven ward for visa ility. /////

//// My cousin is quite a fisherman. Recently he caught a 29 lb striper and held it up for a photo. He also catches another kind of fish with what's called a Rattle Trap. He gets the Trap rattling making an obnoxious noise and it makes the fish mad so the fish goes after the rattle to attack it and that's when the fish gets caught! How often in our lives do we have something that here takes us and makes us mad and we go after it only to be the one who is caught? ////

This week as I listened to Mark 8 in the "come follow me manual" I read about how Jesus took seven loaves of bread and was able to feed the multitude. I thought about our abilities and our money even.
I thought that Jesus is able to take a very small amount and multiply it. This made me turn to our mission and how Dan and I are just two older people in Cape but Jesus can take our efforts and magnify them and bless the lives of many. Father in Heaven, please magnify our abilities to bless their children
///

We invited Robin from read to succeed over for lunch to get set up on Just serve. I spent much of the morning preparing. Cleaning and cooking. The lunch was fun. I made shepherd's pie and peach cobbler. Afterwards we worked on the website and with sister dunkle's help were able to successfully get it up on the web. After that Dan went to Brother Hales meeting then the key and Mary came to talk some more about life after death. She seemed open to Vicky think I'm open to then she seemed open to many of the ideas but they were so different from her own she's still trying to grasp it.

After that we. Invited Willa and Roy to our house and talked about the first discussion about the restoration. I'm not sure how Roy or will I really felt about it. We gave her a book of Mormon.

We then went walking. I was walking near our Apartments. I enjoyed my talk with Darla. Tonight we got the car ready for our work project early in the morning tomorrow.
6
Today was a special day filled with any spiritual experiences. We went with a sister and the two young missionaries to Sister Holmes to help her in her yard help and set up a mailbox. Next came General Conference in the morning and in the afternoon.

A MIRACLE
I accidentally left my purse in a cart at Walmart. We were almost home when I realized I didn't have it with me. I prayed all the way back to Walmart. It was still in the cart among other carts. THANK YOU, THANK YOU HEAVENLY FATHER!!!!!

Hi Sr Potts πŸ‘‹Thank you for that thought!πŸ’• yes, it was very comforting.
In addition I enjoyed SATURDAY 2nd SESSION
* President Jeffrey R Hollands talk on keeping the Chapel reverent for Sacrament purposes. I so appreciated his message. As a convert, which he mentioned, I was almost turned off by what I felt was the disrespectful reverence in the Chapel.
I came from the Episcopal Faith/Church in which we visited only outside the Chapel building, but once you passed through the Chapel doors one would never imagine talking or any ill-reverence in the Chapel. Only sacred quiet thoughts. We had time to enjoy the prelude music, the Choir and to Pray and ponder what was important. We would hear from the priest and choir, and only the congregation when invited. I enjoyed the reverence and quiet. So you can imagine when visiting/investigating- how isrespectful I felt the LDS congregation was in their chapel. It has (somewhat) bothered me since.
So I was grateful to hear the subject brought to our attention yesterday.
I think the difference was for me in the Episcopal Church, one would always arrive EARLY to visit outside and then line up as the Chapel doors opened to be greeted by the Father/Priest. Then enter the Chapel in reverence. Once the Chapel doors were closed no one else entered. So no one ever wanted to be late arriving. That's why the congregation always arrived early and visited outside waiting to be greeted and then enter the Chapel. Then after the meeting was over, we all exited one pew at a time to line up and be greeted/shake hands outside the Chapel doors with the Priest outside.
There were other talks yesterday I really enjoyed tooπŸ’• This morning was Spiritual as well. I love reviewing the Conference messages while looking forward to the next conference. We hope to attend the next October Conference!!!

I wasted half an hour on trying to get my cell phone to print . Having trouble. Dan helped me. It works now!! This morning was busy cleaning and cooking. Dan did the dishes!! Thanks!!!

Next we went to visit Janice Burris at the hospital. She has pneumonia and he has als and was recently in the hospital, More visiting. We helped Willa with a flood in her house and helped Sister Mary Miller with an Afghan she has made and needed to lay out on the floor.
Visited Sister Robinson
At night we had dinner with the Porters and I shared with Sammy in the car some thoughts about baptism and videos. We went to the car because it was quieter with Rachel in the back seat.

When we got home Willa I called and wanted to talk. She was trying to find where the pearl of great price was in The Book of Mormon. Dan reminded me that it was in the triple combination that we had given her. I ended up showing her a short 5 minute video about the restoration. She was very open to it. Father, please help will try to feel the truth of the Gospel. I also shared with her what sister Robinson said when we visited her. I told Willa. How she had gone to 35 different churches before she found the right one. I think that was meaningful too

Tiffany's Disney trip summary:
“Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it?” Thornton Wilder, Our Town

I was reminded of this quote over the last three weeks.

While in the moment, it’s easy to let our blessings slip our mind and lose sight of gratitude.

Unedited version but a few fun pictures attached to remember the good times. Between preparing for a move, having a back to back closing on our current home and closing on the new home, then departing for a vacation 4 days after we moved which was booked prior to deciding to move, our life was filled with excitement but all the stress that comes with it (changing daycare, new school for Maddy, packing, harping on the kids for demanding attention while we’re trying to pack, figuring out what’s for dinner at 6PM the last month, more packing, work, stress, unpacking, sitting in the airport 12 hours and having Max and Grace throw up on the plane and way home at 2:00 in the morning, and then some).

Tonight Adam Checketts and I were reminded how awesome life is with our little ones. I came across this precious book while unpacking our mudroom. Here are just a few pics of the sweet letters from her classmates. First graders authenticity (and spelling) is the coolest! Love our Madelyn!

At the kids daycare the teachers have told us how awesome Max and Grace have transitioned.

We have fantastic neighbors who have reached out and dropped off goodies and made the kids feel welcome.

Life is good!

I felt so exceedingly thankful this morning when I found out that sister Burruss and her husband got back from the hospital yesterday and that he liked to my soup so much that he ate three bowls of it!
I am also thankful that i
Sheila and Camille come to the stake work project today. We made blankets for autistic children. They are weighted so that they don't kick the blankets off at night. We also had lunch. At night, Willa and Roy planned a barbecue for Dan and I and another neighbor named Glenna and her friend Carla.

Notes
We can't solve their problems, they must solve their own

Give your hair to Jesus!!!!!
Grandpas grandpa died... She's mashed vase... We can be reshaped
Cleaning chapel.. 3 kids and a baby then post partem depression
"I used to know..." she home schooled

Gymnastics.. Broke back... Cane then wheel chair

BUT IF NOT.. what shall I be shaped into?

If our hearts are hard we can't easily be remolded.

Jeremy into calling.. KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT and LOVE PEOPLE
(this became very meaningful to me)

I feel sad because although Camille came to the Women's Conference with me she wasn't at all interested in anything to do with our church. I guess I took it personally. She wouldn't look at the scriptures from The Book of Mormon because she said that is our Bible. She wouldn't accept invitation to Easter Sunday she just pushed it away.

I know she felt the spirit when we sang in the impromptu choir. I guess I have to just be grateful for a good day with her and the chance to serve.

It is 2 AM. I woke up with a headache and having a little trouble going back to sleep. My heart is full of thanks this morning because Heavenly Father helped me to make some earrings that have a genealogy tree and I was able to give them to the two sisters that run the Family History Center. They both love them and I was so thankful that I could do that little service.
Heavenly Father, I am thankful also for the amazing and inspirational messages that that came from the Women's Conference yesterday. One that came a lot to me was from Sister Baird when she said that the Lord told her when her husband got put in the stake presidency she said she prayed and asked the Lord what her part was he answered "keep your mouth shut and love people"

Ps while her husband was able to "shine" in the stake she taught seminary and became involved in a Bible study and had neighbors and missionaries to her home for dinner each Sunday and plate piano for numerous events and helped her family to create musical Christmas videos every year she shone in her own way.!

With my mamy feelings today the overriding one was that God loves me! I am so thankful for that message.

I got to drop off some notesπŸ˜‰

"we are not where we are by chance" Jack Krammer

We had a delicious dinner at The Bishop's house. Because the other missionaries didn't make it we were the only guests there and there was lots of good food and the kids got to eat at the desk table and it was a lot of fun. They even made a cake for Dan for his birthday. After that we follow the patient to watch a cantata that is done here it's done it at a church a Christian church and then they come and do it at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day next week
15
Busy busy day today. We started out at Franklin reading, senior citizens helping with lunch, meeting with Jonathan chai, going to Jackson hand stopping by at angle hearts and trying to stop by at Clements but they weren't too friendly. We also stopped by at sister Myers but she wasn't there. Add dinner at Subway. It's cold

Fb Last night as I lay trying to go to sleep I thought of four or five people who are challenged and did some worrying about them. It was then that I recalled Corinne Bairds story.
Corinne said that one day she realized she had a bald spot on the top left side of her hair. To some of us that wouldn't be too surprising but she's pretty young and has beautiful long brown hair.
She began worrying about that spot and thinking that maybe she would get more bald spots and even worried about becoming bald!
When she went to her Bible class she shared this concern with a friend there. Her friend listened then said her, you need to give your hair to God Corinne. "Give my hair to God!!" Corinne thought, "what's that supposed to mean?"
Over the next few days as she thought about the advice and realized that she really needed to let go of her problem and give it to God and maybe the love of her hair as well.
My friend Corinne found peace in giving her problem to God.

It was her story that helped me last night as I imagined wrapping long brown hair around my four friends and their problems and gave them to God then I was able to sleep.
Thanks Heavenly Father. Thanks Corinne

We taught at franklin, served at Sr. Citizens, discussion at Rosemary's, bwent for a walk along the walkway, tried to visit funks and miners. We visited Bro. Moore.

The sad part of the day was when I sent a message to Lizzy asking her if she had read the book of Mormon for today. She said that she wasn't interested in doing that. After counseling with mom I realized I was being pushy so we were able to work it out. Thanks Mom. Thanks Father

17
We had our final party at Franklin this morning. I'm not sure how many of these wonderful people we will see again. We have plans to do something with rosemary and with Katy in the future. We interviewed Theresa as a new roommate in our Cedar City rental home

I'm thankful for prayer and how I can turn my concerns over to my Father in heaven. I am thankful when my bread turns out, my cookies turn out and my chicken spiral soup turns out. I'm thankful for wonderful friends here in Missouri that we can share them with

We were able to say hello to Arnold and then have a nice visit with Janice. I loved it when we were reading the scriptures and she made sure she said a prayer before reading the scriptures to understand then. I hope they can remember that.

On the way home we talked with Mom about her plans to come visit. Hales meeting was cancelled so we walked at the mall.
. The evening we went to visit Gail Meyer and enjoy being able to see her comments we then went to drop my cookies at a few places. We went to Kaufman's and then the lanes.

Bishop comment "Iry to be 1% better each day""

In the morning we worked on preparing for our first support group. We served at 2 Senior Citizens Center. I accidentally bumped the bucket of water and soda all over the place. About three gallons worth. It was a mess. I was exhausted by the time I got home to take a rest. At 2 we went to Sister Weavers to help put her bed on the floor. Jonathan chai helped us also. At night we worked more on preparing for the support group Then had FHE at Mary's place. The two ladies who were invited couldn't make it.
22
¶ And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
23
And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
I was exhausted last night emotionally and physically. I woke up in the night with a bad and different kind of headache (top back of my head) . I couldn't get to sleep so I went in the study to sleep then I heard the alarm go off so I got up it started getting ready for the day only to discover that it was 3:30 in the morning!?

Ether 12:12-15
